An investigation into the formal support systems for newly qualified and return to practice midwives
Chris Parnaby
This study attempts to discover the views of midwives and student midwives about to qualify as to their support needs once in their first job. It also asks experienced midwives what educational needs they have in order to be preceptors to newly qualified and return to practice midwives. It focuses on induction programmes, preceptorship and the supervision of midwives as formal support. Once qualified and working respondents were asked about their experiences within the first year of working.
