ENGAGE – approaches for the effective communication of research
What is it?
This FREE regional event will feature a number of speakers which will highlight the variety of opportunities and approaches there are to communicating your research topic. This event will be open to all postgraduate researchers from across the NW and will include a selection of keynote speakers and specially designed workshops.
This multi-disciplinary day conference for postgraduate research students in the North West responds to the continuing need for students engaged in research to communicate effectively the nature and value of their research, not only to fellow academics within their own discipline but also to the wider community, thereby enhancing both public awareness of the important role and contribution of research to society and public support for postgraduate research activities.
The conference will, via keynote lectures and small group workshops, explore and examine the range of tools and strategies that can enable postgraduate students to communicate and disseminate their research to a wider public. Experts from a range of disciplines within the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences will provide useful information, advice and guidance in order to provide researchers with an invaluable opportunity for the personal development of communication skills.
Who is it for?
Any postgraduate researcher, in any discipline based in the North West, interested in finding out different ways of communicating specialist topics to a broad audience.
What will I learn?
This conference will concentrate on different aspects of communicating your research to wide ranging audiences.
A selection of generic and subject focused interactive workshops will cover areas such as public engagement, academic publishing, interactive media and self publicity.
